Alphaville je nemecká synth-popová kapela založená v Münsteri v roku 1982. Popularitu si získala v 80. rokoch. Skupinu založili speváci Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd a Frank Mertens. Úspech v hitparáde dosiahli so singlami „Forever Young“, „Big in Japan“, „Sounds Like a Melody“, „The Jet Set“ a „Dance with Me“. Gold zostáva jediným nepretržitým členom Alphaville. Svoje meno prevzali podľa rovnomenného filmu Jeana-Luca Godarda. Salvation je piaty album vydaný v roku 1997. Tri skladby z albumu boli vydané ako single: „Wishful Thinking“, „Flame“ a „Soul Messiah“. Ani jeden z nich sa však neumiestnil v nemeckých singlových rebríčkoch.
