The Cars bola americká rocková kapela založená v Bostone v roku 1976. Vznikla na scéne new wave koncom 70. rokov a tvorili ju Ric Ocasek (rytmická gitara), Benjamin Orr (basgitara), Elliot Easton (sólová gitara), Greg Hawkes (klávesy) a David Robinson (bicie). Ocasek a Orr sa delili o hlavné vokály a Ocasek bol hlavným skladateľom a lídrom kapely. Skupina Cars stála v popredí spojenia gitarovo orientovaného rocku 70. rokov snovým syntetizátorovo orientovaným popom, ktorý sa stal populárnym začiatkom 80. rokov. Hudobný kritik Robert Palmer, publicista pre The New York Times a Rolling Stone, opísal hudobný štýl skupiny Cars takto: „Vzali niektoré dôležité, ale odlišné súčasné trendy – punkový minimalizmus, labyrintové syntetizátorové a gitarové textúry art rocku, rockabilly revival 50. rokov a melodickú strohosť power popu – a zmiešali ich do osobnej a príťažlivej zmesi.“ Aj 40 rokov po svojom pôvodnom vydaní zostáva album „Heartbeat City“ komerčne najúspešnejším albumom skupiny The Cars, ktorý získal štvornásobnú platinu v USA a umiestnil sa v rebríčkoch po celom svete. Album, ktorý produkoval Robert John „Mutt“ Lange, obsahuje šesť hitových singlov vrátane „Drive“, „You Might Think“ a „Magic“. Deluxe edícia k 40. výročiu obsahuje doteraz nevydaný materiál vrátane druhej demo nahrávky skladby „Drive“ a kompletného koncertu z roku 1984 nahraného v Houstone. Tracklist: LP: 01.
