This is a monograph dedicated to the photography of Alejandra Figueroa and is the result of several years' work. It showcases a series of monochrome photographs of statues from the world's greatest museums that capture every nuance of sculpted flesh and highlight every detail of the human body. This collection is an invitation to a voyage through past and present, matter and flesh, sacred and profane, life and death. Figueroa's close-up images of sculpted bodies are following in a double tradition: that of great painters, in her framing and lighting that give every picture the illusion of life; and that of photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson and Sebastiao Salgado. The book contains an afterword by Philippe Sollers.
