Anglická skupina Emerson, Lake & Palmer je často považovaná za superskupinu. V kapele, ktorá sa venovala progresívnemu rocku, sa zišli klávesista Keith Emerson, spevák, basgitarista a producent Greg Lake a bubeník Carl Palmer. Súbor patril k najúspešnejším a najpopulárnejším kapelám sedemdesiatych rokov, v tvrobe prepájal rockovú hudbu s jazzom či symfonickými prvkami, jeho poznávacím znamením bol zvuk Emersonových kláves. Album „Pictures at an Exhibition“ bol vydaný v roku 1971 po živom nahraní albumu kapelou na radnici v Newcastle v tom istom roku. Obsahuje reinterpretáciu klavírneho cyklu „Pictures at an Exhibition“ od ruského skladateľa Modesta Musorgského, ako aj bonusovú skladbu „Nutrocker“ – rockovú verziu skladby Pochod cínových vojakov z Čajkovského opery Luskáčik v podaní Kima Vincenta Fowleyho. Album sa v roku 1971 dostal na tretie miesto v britskom rebríčku albumov UK Albums Chart. Remasterovaná edícia koncertnej nahrávky Emerson, Lake & Palmer na dvoch CD z roku 2016 sa opäť zameriava na ich prevedenie diela Modesta Musorgského „Obrázky z výstavy“ z roku 1971.
